But also for Asian Americans because its the Fastest Growing ethnic group in the us, but the least likely to participate. And our next guests want people to know that hurts the community. In order to highlight that, we are going to focus on the challenges facing Asian Americans in the east bay. Joining me now is alexander saingchin, the Vice President of Community Investment and partnership for the east Bay Community foundation, helping to fund efforts to get the count done. As for the cause of the fire, preliminary reports say it might have been from a vehicle accident. But they are still working on that. To the east a wildfire is burning in the sierra and forced the closure of highway 50 in both directions. The highway is closed right now from Pollock Pines to meyers. The flames broke out near kyburz in the whitehall area of the American River inside the El Dorado National forest. That fire is 100 acres 5 contained. A passenger in the car captured the moments after the flames broke out yesterday afternoon. And more than 200 fires are fighting the flames from the ground and the air. They say ste
Neighborhood the Golden Bear Community last evening. The fire burning away from those homes thanks to calmer winds yesterday. Its in a remote area. The terrain is so rugged fire crews are not going to bring in heavy equipment and they have to build containment lines by hand. We dont have to worry about homes threatened but its going to be ugly terrain trying to get in there. Reporter mandatory evacuations are still in effect for the quail ridge and the canyon creek area. The red cross has an Evacuation Center set up at the Winters Community center. We stayed until, um, the flames were out the back window. They were 30 feet tall at that point. Thats when i decided, we need to go. Reporter there is a large animal Evacuation Center as well located nearby. Theres a lot of ranches in this area with cows, horses, you name it.
