The consultation period on new “
Opt-out” proposals ends this
Friday February, 19 at 5pm.
Launched in early December 2020 by Health Minister Robin Swan, the aim of the consultation is to capture the public’s views on introducing new legislation to change the current system here from “opt-in” to “opt-out.”

Under this proposed opt-out legislation, it is considered that everyone would be willing to donate their organs unless they have formally opted out. The family would continue to be consulted about donation as well as considerations around faith and beliefs. This will not change.
Western Trust Chief Executive set to retire
THE Chief Executive of the Western Trust has announced her plan to retire this summer.
The Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust) Chief Executive Dr Anne Kilgallen retire this summer after over three years in the position.
Dr Kilgallen took on the role in 2017 and has been leading the Western Trust during the battle against Covid19.

The Western Trust will now commence a process to recruit for the position.
Speaking to staff today Dr Anne Kilgallen said, “I want you to know that I plan to retire this summer and having just celebrated my sixtieth birthday I know that the time is right to do so.
