He is our 16th assistant secretary of health and the department of health and human services. It is his twoyear anniversary in the role. He serves as the secretary Principal Public Health and science advisor and is responsible for coordinating hhss efforts across the administration to fight americas opioid crisis. He also oversees the office of the Surgeon General in the u. S. Public Health Service commissioned corps. His office leads many Critical National initiatives, including a historic new plan to fight the epidemic in america, the National Vaccine plan, and eight cross agency plan for Sickle Cell Disease.
