the european countries in terms of parental leave, child care, and pre-k. this is a transformational package and as susan said, it is bigger than the affordable care act. it is like five or six affordable care acts. and the speaker is a magician. she is going to pull this out of the hat. 90% of the bill is already in writing, so we re down to the last 10%. i m very optimistic that we ll have a framework this week, and we, may, in fact, vote on the biff, the infrastructure measure this week, as well. and congressman, paid leave is just one of the many policies that democrats were hoping to put in this legislation, that have either been pared down or eliminated in order to get the votes needed to get this through congress. but even with that, we re still talking about trillions of dollars in spending. is there a point where this bill becomes so watered down that it s difficult to describe or explain to voters why the price tag is so high? so, first of all, it s not being watered down
democratic nomination. looking at the mid-term results, 25 and counting new members of congress that is the country is embracing new ideas and new leadership. projecting that on, our best bet is looking forward as far as who we nominate. i will spend the holidays talking to my family and make a decision soon. you have a totddler and a brand-new baby. two week old. that s a big decision if you are gearing up for the primaries. i need their votes first. family votes first. my wife sacrifice ed greatly. we went to the 40 week appointments during the repeal votes for the affordable care acts. he said you are not going to miss that vote to be here for the birth of your son. he said i will make sure you don t miss the birth of your baby. my wife was willing for me to
involved in this. so, i m interested to hear what he has to say and how they decide to handle this. but it s not something that you know, there were people getting on him two days after the election saying, you know, get this done. i think there s probably a lot that has to go into it. so, you know, i look forward to hearing his press conference. other freedom caucus members have talked about the congressional republican strategy to do this sort of three-year plan to repeal the affordable care acts. they ve spoken out against that plan, especially. do you agree with that three-year timeline? you know, i m not sure why there would be a three-year timeline. i think the argument that we ve been making is that obamacare is causing people s premiums to rise. it s causing their deductibles to rise. it s causing them to have less access to their preferred network of physicians. so to say we ll give you relief from that in three years, i m not sure that s what the american people wanted.
almost 2 million americans affected by obamacare s you be necessary mandates. when you hear the leader of the free world tell you something you want to believe it s the truth. that s not the case. real people are tragically affected and others are receiving great benefit. i know it s too premature to know the full impact of the affordable care acts. martha: congressman re thank you for being here. what s surprising you when you are in this hearing? the clip you just showed of dr. jeff reinhart, they have 1,5. 0 employees at they have
affordable care acts. make no mistake, i believe in this law. i spent two years of my life working on the affordable care acts. there is nothing i want more than for it to succeed. but months ago if i warned that if the implementation didn t improve the marketplaces might struggle. other senators on this committee voiced similar concerns. when we asked for updates on the marketplaces the response we got were totally unsatisfactory. what he heard multiple times that everything was on track. we now know that was not the case. but that s in the past. now it s time to move forward and figure out how to fix it. madame secretary you deter of credit for coming before congress and the american people and accepting responsibilities for the website s problem. your focus is where it should be, on the future. it s clear to me you are work as hard as you can to fix healthcare.gov.
