VITAL community facilities in Glasgow’s South Side are in danger of being left behind , a councillor has warned. Councillor Jim Kavanagh claims residents are fearful the popular Penilee Community Centre and Cardonald Library has been “forgotten” as the one-year anniversary of their closure draws near. Both venues have been praised for their work in the area, but neither has opened its doors since the initial lockdown took hold in March last year. Calls have now been made for Glasgow Life, who runs the sites on behalf of Glasgow City Council, to pledge its commitment to the future of the facilities - which house beloved community groups and charities, such as Capability Scotland’s Junction 52 project.
