Montblanc Summit Lite smartwatch rolls out in the US

Android Community April 23, 2021 Montblac isn’t exactly a popular brand when it comes to smartwatches but we know the company for its luxury goods. It is known for luxury pens, watches, and jewellery. It has ventured into the world of mobile tech by coming up with Montblanc Summit 2 Smartwatch, MONTBLANC Summit, and some accessories for Samsung devices. A new wearable device is ready in the form of the Summit Lite. This model has just been released in the United States with the same specs. The Montblanc Summit Lite smartwatch only runs on Snapdragon Wear 3100. Snapdragon is powerful but it’s the same SoC used on the Montblanc Summit 2 watch released more than two years ago. Montblanc could have updated this particular component but didn’t.

Montblanc s Summit Lite Continues the Worst Wear OS Trend

After launching in select markets at the beginning of the year, Montblanc is now bringing its Summit Lite smartwatch to the US. Filled with old specs and a hefty price tag, this is going to be a tough sell. The Montblanc Summit Lite is built on the Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform, just like the original Summit 2 that we reviewed more than 2.5 years ago. That’s noteworthy because Montblanc stood out as the first company to launch a Wear 3100 watch, yet here they are all this time later still pushing a chip that was dated when it debuted. We saw this watch hit the FCC back in October, by the way.

Montblanc Summit Lite sells a two-year old chip cloaked by luxury for $860

German luxury fashion brand Montblanc has brought its latest smartwatch – the Summit Lite – to the US market. And as you might have already guessed by the headline, this one’s not for spec nerds. And also definitely not for those who go after something called value-for-money. But hey, it’s Montblanc, and the true appeal lies in the high fashion quotient – something I definitely lack, because the latest generation Moto 360 and Galaxy Watch Active2 look better and cost less than a third of what Montblanc is asking here. Now, let’s talk substance. The Montblanc Summit Lite features a round 1.19-inch AMOLED display protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass. The device comes with a 5ATM (50m) water resistance rating and can take 22mm straps. There’s a rotating crown on the side, flanked by a programmable pusher on each side. The case is made out of recycled aluminum and stainless steel, and it is up for grabs in matte black and matte silver-grey trims.

Montblanc Summit Lite review: Stylish with some shortfalls

(Pocket-lint) - Think Montblanc and in your mind s eye you could be picturing any number of things: wallets, pens, jewellery, watches, bags, belts, or even notebooks. The one thing that they all have in common (apart from often being made from black leather) is that they re luxury items and aren t cheap. A Meisterstück gold-coated Classique ballpoint pen could set you back hundreds. So when Montblanc launches a Wear OS smartwatch it s best to go in with the expectation that it won t be cheap. But actually, if you compare this second-gen watch - here the Summit Lite - to other Montblanc watches, it s relatively cost efficient. That means there s still definitely some appeal here for anyone wanting a luxury smartwatch but who doesn t wish to spend more than a grand.
