LEXINGTON — On Memorial Day of last year, 21-year-old Stanton native Kayla Lacy kicked off the summer season by spending the day out on the river kayaking with some friends.
A freak accident left 21-year-old Kayla Lacy with a severed spine, shattered vertebra and paralyzed from the chest down. She's been working with UKHealthCare's Outpatient Therapy Clinic twice a week to regain her strength, and in January was named the 2023 Ms. Wheelchair Kentucky to advocate for those with disabilities of all kinds across the state.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â A couple s wedding dreams came true this Valentine s Day, but it wasn t easy to keep their plans in place.
Hillard Cecil suffered a massive stroke on December 4, during a routine shoulder surgery resulting in a coma and an emergency brain surgery.
Cecil had to stay at UK Hospital for a month before coming to Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Center in Lexington, where he is still recovering.
But before Cecil went into that shoulder surgery on December 4 the two made plans to tie the knot on Valentine s Day.
