Posted February 1, 2021
The next Cardinal Foley lecture will be presented virtually on Monday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Guest Brett Robinson will give a presentation titled “Church Communications Ecology: The Impacts of an Ever-Changing Environment.”
Robinson is the director of Communications and Catholic Media Studies at Notre Dame University’s McGrath Institute for Church Life where he researches the intersection of religion, technology, and culture. He is the author of “Appletopia: Media Technology and the Religious Imagination of Steve Jobs.”
He is also a regular columnist for Catholic News Service.
The institute’s latest project seeks to develop a deeper understanding of the social and psychological effects that digital tools are having on parish communities. It will test the idea that in the digital environment, parishes will thrive only to the extent that they cultivate virtues and practices that lead to true communion.
