they started singing. placed cardboard coffins in front of them. what are the coffins signify. and they had each of the different boroughs written on the coffins in different names. different young people. shot by police. shot and killed. they placed the coffins. so make sure i am out of the way of the police. take the coffins down. as they were singing. one by one. police were telling them to get up. they wouldn t. and they were holding hand. police started to pull out the plastic handcuffs. and, one by one. began to place the handcuffs on their wrists. pull them off the ground. place them and the patrol cars and arrest them. so that is what we have seen. again, i just want to emphasize. all night. it has been quite a sight to see. entirely peaceful.

i see dozens and dozens of new york police officers standing over there, not allowing them to cross. so these kinds of things like we saw last night in the city and like we are experiencing live is all very organic. there are different people within these crowds telling people which way to go and which way to meet and what to chant and what to say. and so far everyone has stopped for the moment, regrouping. but in talking to a bunch of people out here, they are out here we saw a number of cardboard coffins that passed by in the street. you see the signs right now. but i counted at least 10 different cardboard coffins with different names. we were reading that some of the mothers from other young men who had been shot by police officers would be here tonight. we ve been talking so much recently in the news about eric garner and michael brown. there are so many other names, including shawn belle who was shot and killed eight years ago last week. his mother is supposed to be here. so we

people deep, there were three mothers actually just interviewed off camera. one of the moms who lost her sons two and a half years ago and she s still frustrated because the officer, she said who shot and killed her son, was not indicted and she was helping lead this whole group. i asked her, what did she think of that moment seeing the card board coffins and what they call the die-in, everyone lying on the ground. she was so touched. she was incredibly emotional. just moving this way, anderson quickly, you can see cars. so you have police mixed in with marchers mixed in with traffic as this massive group is heading back towards manhattan. just an amazing scene. various groups of protesters throughout this city tonight. let s go to chris cuomo who is in manhattan. chris, we saw you last down by the staten island ferry terminal.
