After he was unable to gain access to the vehicle, Jenkins then allegedly attempted to take her purse, according to officials on scene.
“The suspect attempted to forcefully take the victim’s property from her possession,” Arriaga said. “A brief struggle ensued, however the victim was able to run away from the suspect.”
Jenkins then reportedly boarded the bus following the encounter with the woman.
“(He) actually entered the bus, assaulted the driver and attempted to carjack him,” said Captain Justin Diez, for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at the time of the crime.
After Jenkins exited the bus, he was arrested and charged with felony counts of carjacking, attempt carjacking, attempted robbery and a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication, Arriaga added.
