Lerwick secures next oil industry decommissioning project

LERWICK harbour based consortium Veolia/Peterson has been awarded another large decommissioning project to dismantle and recycle the platform jacket of the Ninian Northern oil facility. The partnership has already successfully decommissioned the 14,500 tonne topside of the same.

Port authority union members vote in favour of industrial action

THE UNITE union has confirmed that its members working at Lerwick Port Authority have voted in support of industrial action over pay, terms and conditions. As it stands Unite members will now commence a continuous overtime ban from 28 March. Due to the level of overtime required.

LERWICK Port Authority activity is "heading slowly in the right direction" in the recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. However, chief executive Captain Calum Grains warned that there is a "long way to go to get back to normal levels". He was speaking after the port released.
