Cook: Gillingham Were the Better Side

Boss Paul Cook admitted that Gillingham were the better team as they defeated Town 3-1 at the Priestfield Stadium in his first game in charge of the Blues.
“It was always going to be a difficult game, you’ll never leave Gillingham and you’ll never leave a Steve Evans team without having to earn the right to earn a football match,” he said.
“Unfortunately for us today, I felt Gillingham were the better side, I felt we were never in the ascendency, apart from the 10-minute spell maybe after we scored and equalised when we looked like we could go on and win the game.
Wark Tops Stand Pillar Poll

Town have announced the 12 players who will be featured on the pillars which run through the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand concourse with legend John Wark having topped the voting.
Almost 2,000 season ticket holders responded to the club’s request for votes on “icons, heroes, legends of the club [from] across the years” to be featured on the pillars.
Wark is joined by Mick Mills, Terry Butcher, Kevin Beattie, Paul Mariner, George Burley, Frans Thijssen and Arnold Muhren from the FA and UEFA Cup-winning Sir Bobby Robson era, while Sir Alf Ramsey’s First and Second Division championship-winning team is represented by Ray Crawford with his strike partner Ted Phillips having finished just outside the top 12.
Town Sign Matheson on Loan From Wolves

Town have signed Luke Matheson on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Matheson joined Wolves from Rochdale in January 2020 for a fee of around £1 million having made a big impact as a youngster at Spotland after making his debut aged 15 years and 336 days.
He made national headlines when he netted the leveller for Dale in a 1-1 Caraboa Cup draw over 90 minutes with Manchester United at Old Trafford, taking the tie to penalties before his side were beaten.
Matheson, now 18, who is 5ft 6in tall, rejoined Dale on loan for the rest of the curtailes 2019/20 campaign following his switch. He has spent this season at Molineux but has featured only for their U23 side having suffered an ankle injury in pre-season.
Town Confirm Baggott Signs Deal

Town have confirmed that central defender Elkan Baggott has put pen to paper on his first professional contract, as TWTD revealed earlier this afternoon, a deal which runs to the summer of 2023 with the club having an option for a further season.
It had been claimed that the 18-year-old had turned down the offer of the contract with a number of Premier League clubs subsequently showing interest.
However, Baggott had instead asked for time to consider the deal with the Blues always confident that the second-year scholar would sign.
West Ham and Leeds were said to be among those eyeing the situation, while we understand Everton were also keen on the Indonesian U19 international.
