BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â Across the country, police departments are undergoing training, looking for new ways to best respond to mental health situations and calls.
In Buffalo, members of the Buffalo Police Behavioral Health Team are on the streets everyday doing this work.
âThe police officer has a role and the clinician has a role,â said Captain Amber Beyer who leads the Behavioral Health Team.

BUFFALO, N.Y. The Buffalo Police Department will host a free food distribution on Saturday to benefit veteran and military families in need.
The distribution will happen on Saturday, March 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those attending need to bring proof of service.
To pick up the food, stay in your vehicle and pull up to Niagara Square across from 68 Court Street (Buffalo Police Headquarters). If you have any questions, call Crisis Intervention Team Coordinator, Captain Amber Beyer at 716-851-4677.
The food distribution is part of the Western New York Veterans Food Initiative.
