Without doubt one of the most potent components which fuels the enthusiasm but sadly all too often unrealistic expectations of racehorse owners are that of dreams.
Regrettably, many dreams in horse racing which was founded on them are simply that – fantasy.
However, as the late Walt Disney - arguably the most successful dreamer of them all - once said: “All our dreams come true, if we have the courage to pursue them”.
That quote sits perfectly with Rockhampton owner-breeders Greg and Elaine Sturgiss and Springsure’s Paul and Barbara Wagner and indeed their dream did come true at Royal Randwick racecourse in Sydney on Anzac Day.

Rockhampton’s three days of the Capricornia Yearling Sale’s Racing Carnival ended in spectacular fashion when the magic million dollars figure was shattered for the first time at Sunday’s yearling sales at the showgrounds.
In further testimony to the confidence in Rockhampton racing, buyers splurged $1.45 million, purchasing 73 yearlings for a new record average of $19,917.
Never before in the history of the sale, which predates 1988, has anywhere close to a million dollars in receipts been realised.
Oaklands Stud set to assert dominance on track, at sales Oaklands Stud principal Neville Stewart: “Oaklands also has a strong record in the Championship race. We may just provide the double on Saturday.”

The Stewart family’s Oaklands Stud, Toowoomba, looks set to assert its dominance at both Saturday’s Rockhampton feature Capricornia Yearling Sales select races and at the sales on Sunday.
Oaklands will provide four runners in both the $143K CYS 2YO Classic (1200m) and the $93K CYS 3 & 4YO Championship (1300m).
Visiting Sunshine Coast trainer Tom Button, another prominent role player in both features and huge supporter of Oaklands, will saddle up six of their graduates from previous CYS.
A huge day of racing will kick off the carnival in Rockhampton.

Rockhampton’s Capricornia Yearling Sale Racing Carnival gets off to a dream start at Callaghan Park racecourse on Friday with a massively expanded nine race TAB program.
By sheer weight of horse-starting declarations when 122 were penned-in for the original eight race card, officials had no choice but to willingly expand the program to that of nine races.
This came into fruition when 22 horses from as far afield as Warwick, Taroom, Brisbane, Springsure, Bundaberg and Wondai accepted to race in the $18K 0-58 Ratings Band Handicap (1200m).
