Exploring Italy s Island Gem Procida Aboard M/Y Nafisa

By George Bains 04 Mar 2021 Superyacht charterers are locked in a constant search for the perfect destination. The Italian island of Procida may just tick every box. For sophisticated adventures in the Campania Gulf, the classic Italian superyacht Nafisa is the ideal platform… The typical pastel-coloured small houses are the first thing you notice when you approach her by the sea, painted like this so that when fishermen come back home, they can easily recognize their own house by the sea. Procida, the smallest islands of Campania’s Gulf and the closest to Naples, was named Italy’s Capital of Culture for 2022 thanks to its ‘model for sustainable development based on the culture of the island and its coastline’.

The island of Procida named Italy s Capital of Culture

Italy’s Island of Procida, a territory of the Campania region (capital city Naples) is getting ready to pick up the baton from Parma which, due to the pandemic, will retain the crown of Italy’s Capital of Culture for the whole of 2021. “Culture does not isolate”: this is the name of the dossier with which from the deep waters of the Tyrrhenian (the Tirreno sea) the little Procida defeated Ancona, Bari, Cerveteri, L’Aquila, Pieve di Soligo, Taranto, Trapani, Verbania and Volterra, the other nine fierce finalists in the running for the title of Italian Capital of Culture 2022. For the first time in the initiative’s history, the award goes to a small village (just over 10 thousand residents) and not to a provincial or regional capital city .
