"Once we have confirmation of certain shipments and installations, we can confirm the event date," wrote a city official. "The City thought it best to hold the formal celebration once everything that will make the Wharf special for years to come has arrived and been installed for the public to enjoy."
"I think it would be a good idea to work at the speed of safety instead of the speed of government and doing something like (this) is positive," said Councilmember Joe Clarke at the Dec. 14 meeting. Clarke is also a member of the ad hoc subcommittee steering the improvement effort. "As long as we can incorporate it with our overall plan, I think it's a great idea."
Work to repair and modernize the Capitola wharf is moving along on schedule. The wharf was severely damaged during last winter’s storm which knocked out a huge section of the pier back in January.
