The court, in a judgment that was delivered by Justice Ahmed Mohammed, held that the Plaintiffs, failed to by way of credible evidence, discharge the burden of proof placed on them by the law. By Ikechukwu Nnochiri An Associate Professor in the Department of Economics, University of Lagos, Emmanuel Balogun, on Wednesday, appeared as a witness in the certificate forgery case of  the All Progressives Congress, APC, instituted against Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State. Prof Balogun who appeared as the third principal witness, PW-3, told the court that he has never set eyes on Obaseki’s original certificate. He said he could therefore not comment on whether it was forged or not. The witness went ahead and tendered the original copy of his own degree certificate in Agricultural Economics, which was awarded to him on July 6, 1979, by the University of Ibadan.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed admitted and marked the document known as Form EC9, along with other attachments that accompanied it, as Exhibit PL-2. He dismissed objection the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, raised to query the admissibility of the document which INEC was summoned to produce before the court in the forgery case the All Progressives Congress, APC, instituted against Obaseki.
