The Finance & Capital Strategies Committee of the University of California Board of Regents voted unanimously to approve the design of UC San Diego’s proposed La Jolla Innovation Center, which some local opponents have described as “ominous and monolithic” and “appallingly bad.”
The committee took the vote May 12 in an open session held virtually as part of the regents’ three-day meeting. The full Board of Regents voted unanimously May 13 to adopt the committee’s recommendation.

By now you have probably heard the good news that the federal government and the California Department of Public Health have authorized the administration of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to ages 12 to 15. The Davis campus vaccine clinic administered its first two doses in this new age group at 8 a.m. yesterday and appointments for next week are available on the state’s My Turn website.
UC Board of Regents allocates funding, discusses equity, sustainability

At a virtual UC Board of Regents meeting Wednesday, several members of the UC community advocated for Election Day to be a UC-wide, noninstructional academic holiday, based on the assertion that coursework reinforces existing voting inequities. In further conversation surrounding inequity, some regents expressed concerns surrounding diversity within graduate programs such as a new Doctor of Pharmacy program at UC Irvine.
