49th annual interfaith MLK birthday tribute online for public Jan. 15, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail January 15, is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, and The Capital Area Council of Churches invites everyone to a recorded program of praise, eulogies, and song to pay tribute to his life.  The program is available at www.capareacc.org. Part of the program will be an appeal for donations to the annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Scholarship Fund. That award is presented to a student(s) who demonstrates academic merit, financial need, and most importantly, the strength and determined character of the late Martin Luther King Jr.

(Cindy Schultz / Times Union)Cindy Schultz ALBANY – A third candidate has entered the city s mayoral race. The Rev. Valerie Faust launched a website announcing her plans for a third run for the office. Faust could not immediately be reached for comment on Friday. She is a pastor at Living Word Tabernacle. She previously ran as a write-in candidate in 2013. She also ran as a candidate for the Democratic nomination in 2009 but was knocked off the ballot because then-Third Ward councilman Corey Ellis’ campaign challenged her petition signatures. She ran as a write-in candidate that year as well.
