The well known Somerset West primary school principal, Wayne Sparrow, died in hospital from Covid-19-related complications on 29 December.
The 58-year-old was well known as principal of Helderberg Primary School where he was a dedicated Grade 7 teacher since January 1998 before taking over the reins in July 2001.
âThe family is absolutely devastated by the unanticipated loss,â said Sparrowâs son, Dale. âMy father was healthy and active with no comorbidities.
âYou hear of Covid-19 and the many lives the deadly virus claims, but you only realise the true devastation it wreaks once it hits close to home and you lose a loved one.â
