If you re looking for a holiday spot this summer, look no further than Cape Ann, according to tourism officials.
Representatives of businesses there say they are excited about the summer season as they kick off Memorial Day weekend. In 2021, we re more optimistic, said Tony Sapienza, chair of the tourism council of the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce in Gloucester. People are feeling much more comfortable making trips.
Sapienza said the pandemic forced people to look for travel options closer to home and that s when they discovered Cape Ann located just 40 miles north of Boston.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Gloucester400 has unveiled a new program designed to strengthen connections with the community, heighten awareness of the city’s 400th anniversary, and encourage involvement among a broad range of organizations including non-profits, corporations, and local businesses. The program is the Gloucester400 Organizational Partners Program.
In its first wave of alliances, Gloucester400 has already attracted 22 organizations that are willing to collaborate and pledge support to working together on behalf of Gloucester’s 400th anniversary celebration in 2023.
“Working with the entire community to produce a successful quadricentennial is essential,” said Laura Ventimiglia, the Gloucester400 executive director. “Looking ahead to 2023, our initial organizational partners share our collaborative nature, appreciation of Gloucester’s history, and excitement about the city’s future.
