Throughout 2020 we saw many events affected by COVID-19 and the risk of potential spreading of the virus. As a consequence, some events opted to shift online, with others pushing the events back instead, and some simply cancelling outright – insteading focusing their efforts on the following year’s iteration. The Capcom Cup, which was originally meant to take place next month, has now been cancelled, setting the trend for 2021.
In a statement, Capcom announced that “due to the rising cases of COVID-19 worldwide we have unfortunately made the decision to cancel Capcom Cup and the Street Fighter League World Championship scheduled for February 19th through February 21st.”

Capcom has been gearing up for the big finale of their Capcom Pro Tour for 2020 with the finals set to take place next month. While the last official stop on the tour typically takes place at the end of its tour year, this event was pushed into 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company took to Twitter this morning to announce that the event, which was revised to take place in limited capacity in the Dominican Republic on February 19 - 21, has been cancelled. An online season final will be held in its stead.
Capcom Cup 2020 Canceled in Favor of Online-only Event
Another event has fallen victim to the COVID-19 pandemic. Capcom announced that, in the interest of ensuring everyone remains healthy and safe, it will not hold the Capcom Cup 2020 as planned. It will prepare an online-only event instead of holding the
Street Fighter League Finals on February 19, 2021 and Capcom Pro Tour Finals on February 20-21, 2021 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana.
Here’s Capcom’s full statement from Twitter. Initially, when it announced the February 2021 dates for the Capcom Cup 2020, it went over precautions like vigorous COVID-19 testing and social distancing efforts. This also comes after the Capcom Pro Tour itself had to go online starting in June 2020.

It s been about six months since Capcom first revealed that Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition would be receiving one final season of DLC content, and now it s time of arrival may finally be at hand.
Capcom recently revealed that a special announcement is happening during this week s run of Street Fighter League which likely means we ll learn more about Dan and Season 5 s launch for SF5.
No confirmation was given that Dan will indeed be among what s shown during the stream, but the timing certainly lines up with the expectations of listing Winter 2020 for his release.
