This is new video into our newsroom. The farad fire has burned 600 acres. Its only 5 contained. Mike, i called the chp moments ago. Theyre up against a tough one with this fire. This fire is raging and both of us know that i80 is very popular this time of year. I just drove that route coming back from reno. If it happened now, i wouldnt be able to get home for tomorrows shift. Fortunately were here to tell you whats going on. Heres bait, rigthe bay, right . I80 comes across the bay. Most folks from here will take i80 here, and for my family we traditionally cut down 89 toward tahoe city. Thats where alpine and squaw valley are. You know that route. As far as i know, as of now, interstate 80 is clear here, but truckee goes a little bit north of here and i80 right there. From what i understand, its just past that 89 junction all the way over to the nevada state line. That whole section of i80 is affected by this brush fire because of all that smoke across.
