Pedestrians have been for years indifferent towards pedestrian tunnels. Some tunnels on National Highway No 5 have been closed for not being used by anyone.
HANOI (Vietnam/Asia News Network): The capital city began another pilot programme of traffic navigation at the Nga Tu So-Lang intersection, aiming to alleviate the long-term congestion.
The resolution has three goals; to reduce traffic accidents by 5-10 per cent, to increase the rate of public transport usage to 30-35 per cent, and reduce traffic congestion in 7-10 parts of the city.
Hanoi will limit residential and high-rise buildings that put pressure on traffic infrastructure in the inner districts, in an effort to curb congestion in the capital.
