Canton Art on Main Fine Arts Festival returns in June

CANTON The Canton Art on Main Fine Arts Festival will return this year Saturday, June 5, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Jones Park. The 2020 Art on Main Festival was cancelled due to COVID, but was able to secure participation from most of its artist for the 2021 festival, that had planned to exhibit in the 2020 festival.
The festival, presented by Canton Main Street, will feature 31 professional artists, as well as some student artists. Out of those 31 artists, 7 are new artists to the festival. Categories being represented at the festival, with awards, include painting/drawing, jewelry, glass, photography, clay/ceramics, textiles, sculpture, mixed media and wood. The Art on Main Fine Arts Festival is a juried show, and an Art on Main committee, which is made up of artists, art patrons, designers and other volunteers, review work submitted for consideration.

CANTON Eric Duffield, Organizational Committee member of Canton Main Street, spoke to the Canton Council at their regular meeting Tuesday.
Last year, the popular Art on Main was canceled due to COVID-19.
This year, Duffield said it is planned for June 5 and 6 in Jones Park.
Duffield said they were cognizant of the pandemic and are planning to take the necessary steps to ensure visitors, vendors and others are properly protected.
Among safety steps include having hand washing stations throughout the area, making sure social distancing is being observed and not having large crowds gather at any one vendor’s space.

Don & Nancy’s Café has become a popular staple business in the downtown offering one of the best breakfast and lunch menus in town.
Don and Nancy’s Café is privately owned by Jesse and Elizabeth Kidd. Jesse had worked as a chef in Peoria for 12 years. Jesse and his wife decided to start a family and Jesse wanted to be able to spend more time at home, so they made the decision to open a breakfast and lunch café.
