takes place in the public forum that s so vital to ultimately create laws that help people s lives. this morning on morning joe you said the president was partially to blame for the change in tone. i want to be clear, i didn t say he was responsible for the shooter yesterday. right, right. some people have taken that. that was not what i said. what i said was, again, i ve had i ve had a bunch of these town hall meeting and some have been just as mentioned cantankerous. gone up to some folks afterwards and said what is we both grow up in the low country why are you saying that. they say look if the president of the united states can say anything to anybody at any time, why can t i. and my only point was, we all need to be careful with our language, whether that s the president of the united states or members of the house or members of the senate. you think some of the language this president has used has served as a cue for some other folks in this country? clearly. wh
your face, saying what they like or don t like, than you will if you walk up to them alone or in a small group. also you ve got a lot of wackos out there who, you know, do what we saw yesterday. i mean are you not at all worried this becomes it s in the back of your mind. i ve done 12 town hall meetings back home and some were cantankerous. a number of them. but again, it s a tension between security and access. you have to skew on the side of access. the tone appears to have changed here in washington. granted it s only been 24 hours. how long do you think it lasts? i hope a long time. i hope this is an inflection point where people assess wait a minute, we ve gone too far out there on the cantankerous stage and tilt it back, because, you know, the notion of a civil society means there has to be some level of civil engagement, one to the other. and we ve lost some of that here of late and it comes at the destruction of the debate that
house republicans peel off on his obama carrey peel and replacement legislation. the fact that he s getting criticism right now from top hill republicans for essentially putting out what they refer to as obamacare 2.0, means that him sort of having this cantankerous back and forth with the former president is probably not a problem. the fact that obama and obama aids are distancing him from trump, essential isn t going to do trump any damage as he tries to reach out to conservatives on the hill and say look, i actually am dismantling obama s legacy. and on that point, caitlin just a few seconds left here, but trump going maybe, maybe going to kentucky to campaign for this health care plan? no coincidence, rand paul, rand paul right now saying he s not on board with this. interestingly, trump ran ahead of rand paul and a couple points ahead of him. donald trump is going to be the key seller. he ran as the deal maker. someone who could get deals
