Coachella approves Canna Club project and contributes to May Day celebration
The Coachella City Council on Wednesday approved the Canna Club Project, making way for a new cannabis dispensary and fast food business in the city.
Because 46156 Dillon Road, the building that will house the Canna Club, had previously been designated for sexually-oriented businesses, questions of re-zoning as well as requests for modifications to the eating area held up the project during past council meetings.
Council members acknowledged that, legally, they have to allow space for sex-oriented types of businesses, but some called zoning matters a separate conversation. As far as what the Canna Club has been trying to do for a while now, they ve met all the requirements. They came back. They put seating in there. So, for me, it s (about) moving the item forward, Councilmember Denise Delgado said. In March, Delgado mainly pushed for interior dining to be added to the project.
