LEXINGTON TWP. Michael Shreffler is receiving a new three-year contract to remain superintendent of the Marlington Local School District.
With a unanimous vote Thursday by the Board of Education, Shreffler was approved for a contract that will run from Aug. 3 of this year until July 31, 2024. He has been interim superintendent for the past several months. It will be my pleasure to serve the district and people of the district for the next three years, and maybe more, Shreffler, 53, said. I am very excited to stay at Marlington. We are making progress.
Under the new contract, Shreffler s annual salary will be $145,000. He pointed out this salary will be his total pay. There will be no additional pay as was the case with his predecessor, Joseph Knoll.

CANFIELD For the sixth consecutive year, the Canfield Local School District has received the highest rating from The Ohio Department of Education in the special education annual rating, as well as the special education profile.
“Our staff is to be commended for their outstanding efforts in meeting the needs of our students with special abilities for six consecutive years,” Superintendent Joe Knoll said.
The rating is based on compliance with the Individual with Disabilities Education Act as well as the performance of students with disabilities.
No findings of noncompliancy were found, nor were required remedial actions within the special education profile, which shows a district’s progress over time in meeting goals for students with disabilities.
