Officials with the River Road Independent School District are beginning conversations surrounding how COVID-19 measures and protocols, put in place during the 2020-21 school year, may look different for both students and teachers in the upcoming 2021-22 school year.
According to previous reports by the Amarillo Globe-News, the district’s board approved a resolution during its most recent meeting, putting an end to the district’s face covering requirement for students, staff and visitors to the district on May 30, the day of the high school graduation ceremony at the Amarillo Civic Center Complex. Because the school year ends May 28, the current face covering requirement will remain through the end of the school year.

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - After being cancelled last year, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test will be administered to students this year and will take place in-person.
Everyone who takes the STAAR test this year will do so in-person.
Because of this and the global pandemic happening, school districts will have an extended period of time to get students to complete the test.
