We still have a very long road to navigate, but we are so very grateful that we seem to now be on a road to recovery, Candy said.She also expressed her gratitude for the support and prayers her family has received from law enforcement officers across the country.The inmate accused of attacking Kaminsky, 21-year-old Elijah Evans, has been charged with two felonies.

She said he suffered facial fractures in the attack, which are healing well. She said both of her eyes were swollen shut when he was first admitted to the hospital. She said he can now open one of his eyes for a short time.
