Firefighters encounter burning propane tank, roof collapse at barn fire

RICHMOND, Ind. Smoke billowed high above the tree line Tuesday afternoon as firefighters extinguished a barn fire southeast of the city.
Firefighters were summoned at 3:39 p.m. to 3588 Niewoehner Road, and Richmond Fire Department was first on the scene. Engine 4 had heavy smoke and fire showing from the main structure of the barn upon arrival, said Deputy Chief Andy Buckler.

Firefighters also found a propane tank on fire inside the barn that hindered their efforts. Then, the barn s metal roof partially collapsed. The roof drooped down into the barn, allowing sunshine to illuminate the damage inside.
