Taiwan would fight to the end if China attacks, Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) said yesterday, adding that the US can see a danger that this could happen amid mounting Chinese military pressure, including aircraft carrier drills near the nation.
Taiwan has reported repeated military activities by Beijing in the past few months, with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force making almost daily forays in Taiwan’s air defense identification zone.

From Councilor to Ambassador Candice Pitts?
Arnold is among four councilors, including Michael Noralez, Ryan Elijio and Doctor Candice Pitts, who will not be seeking reelection at the municipal level. Pitts took to Facebook over the weekend to inform the residents of the city that she will not be seeking re-election, “due to my other national assignment and commitment.” While Pitts didn’t disclose what that assignment will be, best information to News Five suggests that Pitts is likely to get a diplomatic posting.

John Briceño
The Briceño administration has yet to finalize its list of diplomatic postings. In fact, for weeks, we have been receiving reports that individuals sent on diplomatic missions at Belizean embassy overseas were refusing to return home, delaying the government’s plan in appointing new ambassadors and other diplomats. Today, PM John Briceño says that the announcement of new ambassadors will be made shortly.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“When it comes to foreign postings, everybody knows the ambassadors work during the term of their government and when the time comes that they need to come home, I am told, I don’t know that a few of them did not want to come back home. And finally the Ministry had to tell them you know, you have to come back home, you are no longer employed by the government of Belize.”
