BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Jan. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Two Alabama-based organizations are partnering to find cures for common diseases that cause blindness for millions of people worldwide.
Advancing Sight Network partnered with Kailos Genetics to find genetic causes of blinding eye diseases.
In an effort to help medical researchers develop new treatments and cures for blinding eye diseases, Advancing Sight Network and Kailos Genetics created the OcularGeneScreen®, a new genetic screening panel, to be used with eye tissue from post-mortem eye donors. The screening will help determine which genes are associated with eye diseases like age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma, and Fuch s Dystrophy.

Don Brown was terminated on Tuesday, setting the stage for Michigan’s head football coach, Jim Harbaugh, to welcome in a new defensive coordinator.
Who that might be, and when, remains unclear but late-December is typically the time for such a move. The season is winding down and the coaching market is bustling with options of coaches who were fired for struggles elsewhere, or an up-and-comer at a smaller school looking for a bigger opportunity.

He now has the job big enough to lure him away from being defensive coordinator at Notre Dame. Lea said his career arc had to align with this opening and the fact it did confirms he was meant to be Vanderbilt’s coach. “This was a place I was meant to take on, a challenge that I was built for and I m excited obviously about it,” Lea said Sunday. “I didn t know that I would get the chance, certainly get the chance this early. But you know, by God, I m not going to screw it up, I can assure you that.”
