But Cande Medrano, 71, thought his cycling days were done in his 50s after surgery for spinal stenosis. However, therapy and time have allowed Medrano to get back onto his bike, and in 2020, he logged more than 14,000 miles, according to a statement released by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission through its Bay Area Bike to Wherever Days program.
