“I love ice cream. It makes people happy. My goal is to put smiles on the faces of seniors and people of all ages who come in for a cone, or sundae or a milkshake treat,” said Hage in a statement. The location, next to Canal Square Park, previously was a music store.
According to the announcement from the city:
Cohoes native Brenda Hage has a deep admiration for the tenacity of her parents, a special place in her heart for seniors, and an enthusiastic love of ice cream. When presented with the possibility of opening an ice cream parlor adjacent to the park her parents enjoyed on sunny days in their retirement years, and easily accessible to seniors in nearby apartment buildings, she did not hesitate. Within 48 hours she had signed the lease.
