Vaping dos and don’ts
On the potential health harms of vaping, Health Canada has been less definitive on cannabis compared to juice and nicotine products By Enzo DiMatteo

The CN Tower was lit up in black and yellow to mark Anti-Vaping Awareness Day on May 3.
The campaign, started by a high school student to raise awareness on the potential dangers of liquid vapes and e-cigarettes, is backed by Health Canada and includes sending out info kits to students in schools across the GTA.
The Canadian Vaping Association, the industry lobby representing some 200 retailers, took to social media to criticize the campaign for “confusing smokers,” arguing that tobacco smoke kills 45,000 Canadians every year while vaping “is widely considered as less harmful.”

Beamsville, ON, Dec. 18, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) With today’s release of the Canada Gazette, Part 1, the Canadian Vaping Association (CVA) has learned of the federal government’s intention to restrict nicotine concentrations to 20mg/mL. The CVA believes that this decision is not without merit; however, restricting high nicotine content to age-restricted specialty vape shops would better balance youth protection with adult harm reduction.
As research has concluded that youth vape for nicotine, it is reasonable for the federal government to restrict it. Yet, the government can not allow adult smokers who require high nicotine concentrations to remain smoke-free to be left behind. The survey “Smokefree GB”, conducted by Action on H
The Canadian Vaping Association: Quebec’s proposed vape policy is a failure to public health
BEAMSVILLE, Ontario, Dec. 17, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) With Quebec’s proposed flavour ban looming, it is clear that Minister Dube has not been paying attention. Minister Dube has chosen to remain wilfully ignorant to the science supporting vaping as harm reduction. Flavours are the key to adult adoption and success. Despite every major health organization stating that vaping is less harmful than smoking, Quebec remains on course to ban flavours, the key component making vaping the most effective smoking cessation product in history.
Quebec must look at the global data on flavour bans and recognise that they are ineffective and harmful to public health. Every region that has implemented a flavour ban has seen an immediate increase in smoking rates ranging from 3-9%. This data was again replicated in our own country with Nova Scotia’s flavour ban. BEAMSVILLE, Ontario, Dec. 10, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Following the recommendations in the report from the National Director of Public Health released this morning, Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, has stated his intention to implement further restrictions and prohibitions to the current provincial vaping regulations.
The Canadian Vaping Association (CVA) has been a consistent advocate for strong youth protection measures and has worked with many governments to create a framework that balances youth protection with adult access. While our organization agrees with some of the proposed measures, others will have the unintended consequence of pushing ex-smokers back to smoking.
