The head of the area Catholic school board will be closing the locker on a 38-year career in the educational field this September.
Deb Crawford, director of education for the St. Clair Catholic District school board, announced her retirement Friday. She began her career in 1983 as a teacher with the Dufferin Peel Catholic District school board before joining St. Clair in 2001.

She worked as vice-principal of Ursuline College Chatham and principal of the former St. Christopher Catholic secondary school in Sarnia before becoming superintendent of education in 2008. Crawford has been the director of education since 2017.
