Health Canada has issued a recall for a Belkin phone charger and its stand due to overheating, posing fire and electric shock hazards.
According to the February 11 recall, the item, Belkin Portable Wireless Charger and Stand Special Edition, poses as a fire hazard due to a manufacturing defect in the power supply which can cause it to malfunction and overheat.

Those who have the product are asked to stop using it and to return it to Belkin for a full refund.
The company has reported that 221 units were sold in Canada from July 2020 to October 2020.

The concern is that, for certain individuals, exposure to the mould “may result in allergic symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, wheezing, runny nose or nasal congestion and watery or itchy eyes.” Additionally, exposure “may cause temporary adverse health consequences, where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.” The notice advised that anything that has been opened should be discarded securely. / Photo by Consumer Product Recall notice
