a very good day to all of you from msnbc world headquarters here in new york. welcome to alex witt reports. we begin with breaking news in israel. new pictures of the emotional moments four hostages are reunited with their families, after being rescued during a daring daytime raid in central gaza. these pictures were taken at the hospital and provided by the israeli prime minister s office. those rescued include this woman , noa argamani, who became the face of the hostage crisis when harrowing video surfaced after her abduction on october 7th. the other three hostages range in age from 21 to 40 years old, held captive for nearly 250 days. we are going to have a live report from tel aviv in just moments. meanwhile, president biden reacting to the news during a visit to paris today, as commemorations continue around the 80th anniversary of d-day. he joined french president emmanuel macron for a day of events, and ending with a state dinner, and that starts this hour. we have r
it to the local level. if they can t do it, the state level does it. if they can t do it, the federal government does it. everything is upside down with desantis. he s like a centralized state authoritarian. whether he is banning small businesses from running their businesses the way they want during covid or banning or going after baseball teams. now, here, this seems to be an even greater breach. i m curious, what do your constituents, what do the people of your district think about you being elected, you campaigning, you debating, you running against another candidate, you winning the election, then him just unilaterally deciing to fire you, push you to the side for a campaign talking point?
because of what immigration experts call a perfect storm of catastrophes, the pandemic, the ensuing recession, and the war in ukraine, which choked off grain exports, in other words, food. almost nowhere has been hit harder than latin america, pushing millions to flee in search of not just a better life, but life period. couple that with what smugglers are doing to take advantage, and a fire hose of misinformation on social media, telling people that now is the time to come. and you get what we are seeing right now, a crisis at the border, but not just the border in cities like el paso, interior cities, including new york, say they are at capacity. what exactly does that mean? what exactly is being done, and what exactly is being blocked by lawmakers who arguably benefit from using immigration as a campaign talking point? joining me now is nbc news homeland security correspondent julia ainsley who s in el paso,
