sense that that was a real issue and i think that in some respects i give her credit because it allowed for her staff to potentially move to other campaigns rather than delay the inevitable. i think it s unfortunate if there aren t people of color on the debate stage but at the same time, you know, the rules were in place. i think everyone is able to compete fairly for both the number of donors to attain and pretty easily to achieve 4% in polls. but yeah. look. if you can t pay bills, it is hard to keep the campaign moving. noah, how important do you think from your analysis the diversity issue is to the democratic primaries as we go forward? in the new york timesa
do what i have to do. reporter: this is a big shift for sand irs. one of the things he had prided himself on is how busy he is on the campaign trail. hold between three and four events a day. and now he says that he s actually going to be more in line with his democratic opponents. not doing quite as many events. but he still plans to be very actively involved in this campaign. and also, he says he is not going anywhere. now, it s important to keep in mind while this is certainly a setback for sanders, he s now a 78-year-old man who suffered a heart attack that could hurt his campaign. sanders is still a force to be reckoned with in this democratic nomination. he has a lot of resources to keep the campaign moving. even if we may not see on the campaign trail as much. and his voice is still an important part of this process. but no doubt this changes the scope of the democratic primary in a big way. john? all right, ryan.
from bangkok. the philippines has no shortage of deadly violence, certainly with the war on drugs. is this some kind of settling of scores? a sniper s bullet, that suggests military training. and then killing somebody from the back of a motorcycle, that s kind of the modus operandi of the people killing suspected drug dealers, right? i mean, the question here, obviously, is whether or not these were state-sponsored killings. you know, president rodrigo duterte has issued a list of 150 officials he claims are involved in the drug trade. of the five mayors who have been killed so far, at least three of them were on that list. and so the question, obviously, is this campaign moving, you know, away from suspected drug suspects and now targeting state officials? that s a pretty serious allegation or suggestion to

country who are not just standing up for their neighbors, but standing up for the american ideal. this country is not perfect. and the constitution is not perfect. but what it says is we will strive to be a more perfect union and you could only do that when you stare down hate and you stare down bigotry and people who do things that are in violation of all that we hold dear. i have 30 seconds, corin, you wrote an article that said none of this surprises. none of this. if you have been paying attention and if you are a brown or a black person or a woman or a lgbt person living in this country and you have watched the election the last 18 months or paying attention to donald trump if you lived in new york city or since 2011 when he pushed birtherism, it is not surprising it is what he was doing. he was pushing and tapping into hate and he saw something going on and used it to his advantage as a platform to really get his campaign moving. and he did it the moment that he
