and essentially reminded everybody of hillary clinton s problems. donald trump is now facing an opponent. the entire ball game is going to be making that opponent toxic. rendering his prissy prescriptions, her comportment. former second lady. is that the? former second lady of the united states in man chester, new hampshire, today, made a case. listen to this. made a case for joe biden. and i don t think this is necessarily the official campaign line, but this is basically the message that s coming out of the biden campaign. listen to her say it. so, yes, your candidate might be better on, i don t know, health care than joe is. but you ve got to look at who s going to win this election. and maybe you have to swallow a little bit and say, okay, i
seeing on the campaign trail not only made a habit of refusing to apologize, he even once demanded his opponent apologize for something. so maybe he s trying a new tact. along with today s apologies, he also gave a fresh and rare interview to cnn s chris cuomo. the american people think they know me and they know me. since that occurred, i had the most sought-after endorsement for the mayor of atlanta, a black woman who s a great leader, endorse me. i have had numerous members of the black caucus endorse me. you worried about the poll slippage with african-americans after the debate? no, no, these folks just came. i m making the point to you, i don t see it. people know who i am. you know, voters know me may sound like a good campaign line for a guy who s been in politics for four decades, but biden s forgotten there s a whole new generation of voters who don t actually know him. and to reach them, he should do more press.
better crowd? better enthusiasm. this backhanded compliment coming from a president who admires a biting wit. i think she s got a little bit of a nasty wit, but that might be it. martha: at this moment last night, may be a game changer for harris. to hear you talk about the reputations of two united states senators who built a reputation and career on segregation s, you also worked with them to oppose busing. you know, there was a little girl in california who was part of a second class to integrate her public schools and she was bused to schools every day. that little girl was me. martha: that would be a campaign line that would be gold for her. that little girl was me. this photo went up on her
insurance entirely. that s what senator bennett was sticking him with. moving forward and talking about president trump, different from day one to day two. he was mentioned early and often last night. let s listen to kamla harris criticizing the trump administration for focusing on job numbers when touting the economy. let s take a listen. people in america are working. they re working two and three jobs. when we talk about jobs, let s be clear. in our america, no one should have to work more than one job to have a roof over their head and food on their table. all right. yep. one job but two or three. put those remarks into context here. well, about 5% to 6% of americans work two jobs. but senator harris remarks, saying there should be no americans working two job. there s nothing factually incorrect about that. it s a great campaign line and something that harris wants to push forward with. we remember when she brought
like you mentioned. i think that from, you know, the biden campaign s point of view, something like this would be making a big splash to a democratic field that is crowded with a lot of young people, diverse candidates. someone like biden this could undermine the criticism that he s an old white guy if he announces he s running with someone like stacey abrams that shot to fame after that failed gubernatorial race. she s 45. she s 31 years younger than biden. so she provides this racially and generationally diverse perspective to a campaign line this. shepard: you wonder if they have considered whether the optics could backfire, whether it could be seen as i don t know. not perfect. totally. i think there s a lot of risks with something like this, especially because like we said, it could come off as phony, especially for someone like biden who has after all of his years of service been able to
