The Court noted that elections in India are celebrated as festivals and that political rallies have been a part of the electoral process since the first general election in 1952.
The Karnataka High Court on Friday rejected a plea filed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi s roadshows which were scheduled to be conducted in Bengaluru on May 6 and 7. The court recorded submissions by the state and the police that if the roadshows are held as planned, all precautionary measures will be in place.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is yet to take a final call on whether to run a campaign in Karnataka on projecting a Lingayat Chief Minister candidate.
