As this extraordinary year draws to a close, we’re continuing our annual tradition of celebrating the hard work that Jamaican sportspersons and teams achieved in the past year.
2020 has been a sporting year like no other. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic forced global sport into an unprecedented shutdown with several months with no competition. Euro 2020 and the Tokyo Olympics were among the events postponed.
But although the 2020 sports year was filled with shutdowns, cancellations, quarantines, and infections, it shows that sports can inspire even in the bleakest of times.
The 2020 Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championship was the first event in Jamaica that was cancelled due to the coronavirus.
