Brothers, Cousins and Grand-dad Plant Flowers At Hansford County Courthouse
Theodore Pshigoda, Brian, Everett Been, Henry Pshigoda and Walter Been
On a sunny Sunday afternoon, the “Barkley Street Boys”
gathered gardening tools and a few flats of patriotic flowers (purchased
locally at D&C Greenhouse) to plant at the monument at the Hansford County
Courthouse.
The courthouse has several historical markers and the newest
addition is the War Memorial to honor fallen soldier Sgt. Cameron Meddock.
The Hansford County Historical Commission and Judge Benny
Wilson, have been behind this effort for nearly two years. During this time, not only was the monument purchased

The Hansford County Historical Commission and the Hansford County Courthouse have been in the process of updating the War Memorial for many months.
The first monument that arrived came in the wrong color and did not match the existing monument.
On Tuesday, after a very long wait, the great news came that the monument was finally going to be delivered to Spearman and placed in its new home. Sadly, and with great disappointment, when the monument arrived and was unloaded, it was not the correct shape to fit with the existing monument.
