people are going to go back into the streets and start protesting the fact that mubarak is still the president and doesn t seem to be expressing any willingness to step down. normally the demonstrations start afternoon, 3:00, 4:00, 5:00 in the afternoon. so probably the next three or four hours will be relatively quiet. a quiet that will probably be greeted with some happiness by cairo residents, and myself i have to say. i can imagine. you ran into some trouble on the streets today. what happened? reporter: we were right in the middle of a demonstration, caught between demonstrations on the one hand and a large group of police, plain clothes, and the uniformed police. they saw us hiding behind the concrete pillar from the stone pillar being thrown, grabbed the camera woman, mary rogers. all three of us, many, tommy
one of the hotels, the five star hotels just down the streets from us i m sorry, this tear gas is getting to us here. the security is confiscating the cameras of tourists. of course, for a country that depends so much on tourism, for this heavy handed tactic to be used against the people who are a major source of income for this country is a worrying development to say the least. a group of these plain clothes policemen converged on us and basically they grabbed the camera from mary rogers, our camera woman, and cracked the view finder off. after quite a tussle with these

plain-clothes policemen converged upon us and tried to basically grab the cam from a mary rogers our camera woman and cracked the view finder off and after a tussle with these guys because some of them are pretty big they took the camera way. i argued with them endlessly on the officers on the scene to give us back the camera to show egypt has freedom of press as they like to say. they would have none of it. our experience is not unique. i just spoke with somebody from german television, they had their camera smashed this morning. so it seems like the crackdown isn t just on the protesters it s on the media as well. reporter: you ve been seeing also that these clashes have already started. was there already tussling going on in the streets where you were? where we originally were, there s prayers as usual on friday. fewer people were out. when the prayers got out we started hearing from down the
