cities. this was definitely a private aircraft designated for the pope s use so he can break that one rule there. but, again, the pope enjoying things. we re also told that during his helicopter ride from the tip of manhattan at the wall street heliport to jfk he really wanted to see and be flown over the statue of liberty and ellis island, so that quick tour was given to him before he boarded this plane at jfk and made that safe landing so pretty fun pictures there to see. at virtually every stop this pope has been greeted by huge crowds and a sea of camera phones and the trip comes as the vatican tries to find new ways in this age of smartphones and social media to bring the pope s message to the masses. let s bring in michael onassus and he s the author of the tweetable pope, a spiritual revolution in 140 characters. welcome to you. good to meet you. thanks for joining me, michael. great to be here. let s talk about the scores
of compton debuted. some of the films stars weighed in on the movement. i don t think things have changed. the only thing that s changed is there s camera phones. and with all that footage with social media, many people aware of the problem, it usually leads to a solution. that s what we need to be focused on instead of complaining and protesting. i understand the protest, but we need to think of solutions. it s time for change. with me now to talk about this, cnn political commentator mark lamont hill. welcome, mark. good to be here. do you agree. absolutely. i thi the technology allows us to get more access to it, allows us to
result of an underlying issue we have which is our sin and creates this divide when we try to dot right thing we can t because of the sin in our life. i always point to christ he s the one that can answer these issues we have. we ve tried different things we re trying to bridge the gap with pofrl, education and job creation with the police officers treating people the right way when they arrest them. but i always point to the fact that christ is the one that has to mend our hearts and change the way we view people so that we can thread the level of god and the people we interact with them. you said i see a brokenness only christ can give us wisdom and power to mend. i want to get your reaction to the charges of these officers, ben. i think that first of all it s a sad situation. i have six police officers that might be charged with homicide and killing someone that was in their custody. we saw the videos and one thing about the camera phones we re able to see more of what s going o
at these communities? let me finish my point. there have been cities across america like ferguson, like staten island, they said we ve seen this all along. we ve seen this happen for years. but here s what they didn t have. there were no camera phones. there was nobody on the cameras to catch what was going on. so what t the people in these communities are saying, and we re not making excuses for looting and rioting, that s wrong. but what they re saying is bring justice to our communities. we re tired of being abused. go ahead, cheryl. you want to talk about justice, what about the 14 year old black boy shot in the head on april 8? what about the six black people that were killed by black males in the last week? why are we focussing on this one person who was killed, when we close our eyes to all the rampant shootings and deaths at
americans right now? what do we all need to start thinking about and doing? well i think, wolf for all americans in this country, we have to come to the realization that black lives matter. we recognize of course all lives matter. that s been said for 250 years in this country. specifically black lives matter. young people of color, especially black young men and black young women just two weeks ago, charges were dropped in another case. we don t believe these stories are truthful. as we have new technologies and videotapes and camera phones and we see things with our own eyes we re finally believing that they re actually telling us the truth. so all of us have to come together and uplift the solutions to these problems. we have to transform and make a 21st century police force in every city every mayor in this country should be looking at their police force and how can they make a better police force a more productive police force, a police force that protects and serves the commu
