The Cambridge Police are conducting an active investigation after there was a ShotSpotter activation and reports for gunshots in the area of Cherry and Harvard Street early this morning at approximately 12:10 a.m.

More than six shell casings were located and recovered by the Cambridge Police following a preliminary investigation. There are two known victims reported at this time. Both men one in their mid-twenties and another in his mid-thirties are from Cambridge and were initially treated on-scene before being transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. Multiple vehicles and and a building on Cherry Street also were damaged due to the gunshots. A vehicle was seen fleeing the area down Cherry Street towards Harvard Street following the report of gunshots. There have been no arrests made at this time.

A young man who was fatally shot in Cambridge early Saturday morning has been identified by authorities and his family.
According to our news partners at WCVB, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge police Commissioner Branville Bard have confirmed the victim is 19-year-old Xavier Louis-Jacques, of Cambridge.
The victim s mother, Rayschell McCants, told NewsCenter 5 s Peter Eliopoulos her son may have been trying to sell a pair of sneakers on Pemberton Street when he was robbed and shot just steps from his home. The sweetest kid, McCants said. He had no evil in his heart. He didn t do much of anything that would jeopardize him to be in this situation.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commission Branville Bard have confirmed the investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m. Saturday morning on Pemberton Street.
According to a release, a 19-year-old Cambridge resident suffering gunshot wounds was found by a passerby near the Rindge baseball field on Pemberton Street. The victim was treated on scene and transported to Mount Auburn Hospital where he later died.
