Ambridge police to receive body-worn cameras in coming weeks
By Staff Reports
AMBRIDGE In the next few months, residents of the borough will see local police officers wearing body cameras.
Ambridge was recently awarded a $46,500 matching grant from the state Commission on Crime and Delinquency to purchase 25 body-worn cameras (BWC).
According to Manager Mario Leone, the borough is expected to acquire the cameras within eight weeks. Once the cameras are received, officers will receive training before they are fully deployed for use. These cameras will ensure that borough policing policies are being followed by our officers at all times, and these body-worn cameras further complement the borough s in-car video technology, Leone said.
