A pick-up in international tourism growth is expected after the government scaled back quarantine restrictions for inbound travellers to Cambodia who have not received a primary course of Covid-19 vaccines, in a move set to take effect on the onset of July 11.

The finance and tourism ministries on February 9 issued a proclamation authorising the implementation of key policies for tourism in 2022, primarily the extension of tax exemptions through to June 30 for hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and travel agencies registered with the General Department of Taxation (GDT).
A total of 4,106,034 domestic trips were recorded in the first 34 days of this year, from January 1 to February 3 – 23.08 per cent in just the first three days of this month alone – statistics that observers are regarding as positive signs for a rapid recovery in domestic tourism for 2022.
