They brought the mobile command unit and they have set up here with the open Fire Department in the slot lot across the street. Atf investigators are meeting with the oakland firefighters and police. I spoke briefly with one of these agents offcamera said the National Response team comes to help investigate when there is a big fire like this. They have not determined the cause of the fire and they have not had chance to into the building to investigate because they are not sure whether it is safe enough to do so. The challenge for those that live and work in the area, yesterday more than a dozen glass panels from the Office Building near the fire started shattering and falling to the ground below. San felipe road. A small car and that is where the fire started from the car fire. Right now cal fire as we mentioned is doing its best. They are working their way up the steep terrain. Where the fire started there is a lot of dense brush and oak trees. They are trying to make it up a steep hill to prevent the fire from coming up here and into neighborhoods. Once again, to update you, the fire has now grown to 40 acres. About an hour ago it was less than 20 acres. So growing quite fast and there are brisk winds out here. Reporting live from san jose. How is the firefight going . Reporter the fire is still raging out of control. It is not yet contained. What were looking at is a roadblock just off of 101. A lot of people are trying to get to their homes, but the area is cut off. We have aerial video of how the firefight is going. What youre seeing is an aerial drop from cal fire. They have tankers up there. They have water drop helicopters, as well, trying to get a handle on this fire. The wind is blowing. That means the flames could spread quickly. Thats why they said originally while there are 40 acres that burned, the potential could be for 500 acres. Lets take a look at a map. Metcalf road where i am is on the west side of the fire zone. San filipe is on the other side. People are being turned away and stay away. Only one structure so far, called a minor structure, has been threatened, but has the fire has not consumed anything so far. Lots of crews in this area trying to contain it.
